PRG Revolver Grips for K, L, N, and X Frame S&W Revolvers
These items are part of the Lauck Tier One Hard Use™ Product Line
DLS Performance Revolver Grips are for shooters who understand performance handgun shooting. Experienced shooters know the grip and the grip frame of the handgun affect how the handgun points at the target.
Glock pistols with the lower rear hump on the grip frame are well known for causing the pistol to point too high. An effort must be made to roll the shooter's hands and wrists downward to bring the sights into proper alignment with the target. To solve this problem the Glock hump has been flattened on many custom Glocks to improve fast action performance.
Revolvers have suffered a similar problem for more than 100 years. If you test point a S&W DA revolver with locked wrists and nearly any conventional revolver grips, you will find the revolver points much too high. In order to overcome the high pointing design of the frame and grips, shooters must roll their hands and wrists downward to bring the sights into proper alignment with the target. This of course can be done with enough practice and training, but why?
The DLS PRG was designed to make the S&W DA revolver point properly and align the sights with the target when the shooter has a locked wrist hold on the revolver. Unlocking your wrists and rolling them downward will no longer be required to bring the sights into alignment with the target. The design of the PRG completely solves this problem and allows shooters to keep a strong, locked wrist grip on the revolver. The PRG is a superior design for both iron sights and red dot optics. Finding the dot has never been easier.
Shooters who are experienced with the 1911 autopistol notice how well the pistol points with locked wrists. Due to the grip angle design of John Browning, the sights naturally come into alignment with the target while the shooter has a locked wrist grip on the pistol. The DLS PRG allows this same fast and positive alignment of the sights with the target while the shooter has a locked wrist grip on a revolver.
These grips are NOT blocky, oversized and fragile competition grips. The PRGs are constructed of heavy duty G10 and designed for hard use, very well suited to duty, EDC, CCW, as well as practical competition. They are slim across the midsection: the K-L PRG is only approximately 1.080" thick, and the N frame PRG is only approximately 1.150" thick. (A single stack 1911 pistol is commonly 1.250" thick) The PRG is well suited to average sized hands, and the bottom hand stop can be relieved for extra large hands. The PRG has twin internal locator pins, and triple outer cross bolts for excellent fit and durability. The PRG is a two piece clamshell style grip so installation is easy. (Square butt S&W revolvers can be professionally converted to roundbutts so the PRG will fit properly).
The DLS PRG design is large enough to allow for complete control of the revolver, yet small and contoured enough for everyday carry and CCW.
Inside the butt of the grip there is a concealed lanyard anchor. This allows for a simple, heavy duty bootlace to be looped through the internal anchor during installation to provide revolver retention in rough field and water environments. Excellent for ATV, horseback, hunting, boating and fishing. When a lanyard is not required, the lanyard anchor is invisible and silent.
(Cautionary note about lanyards: When choosing a lanyard, make sure it is strong enough to support the weight of the firearm when dropped, BUT make sure the lanyard will break before pulling your body weight into a dangerous situation, such as a boat propeller.)
The front bottom hand stop is superb for controlling recoil and muzzle rise. High performance speed shooters know that allowing the revolver to recoil upward is nothing but time wasted off target. Time ON target is the goal. Keeping the sights aligned with the target allows for accurate follow up shots at high speed. The front bottom hand stop has delivered proven performance in this area.
The top rear 'beavertail' spreads and controls recoil, as well as keeps the sights on the target when the shooter is using a locked wrist grip on the revolver. The beavertail allows the shooter to get high on the revolver and as close to a straight line as possible with the line of the muzzle. The PRG positions the shooter's hands in the best position to operate the trigger, and stay in-line with the bore line of the revolver.
The PRG G10 outer texture is smooth enough to allow the shooter to purposely shift his grip during fast gun handling. Once the perfect hand hold is achieved the shooter can use the contours of the PRG to lock in his grip on the revolver. The PRG is unrivaled when it comes to weapon retention in CQB situations. The PRG are not sticky like some rubber revolver grips so they do not drag on clothes when CCW.
The PRG allows for both double action and single action shooting with all but the largest of oversized target hammer spurs. Speedloader and cylinder latch operation remain unobstructed. Shooters who fire their double action revolver in single action mode will find that cocking the hammer into the SA mode is best done with the thumb of the SUPPORT hand. This is quickest and most positive. It also leaves the shooter's strong hand in a full control position on the PRGs. This grip project is a collaboration between Hogue Inc. and DLS Inc. so you can be quality assured.

For shooters who frequently remove PRGs from their revolvers:
There are two smooth locator pins inside the PRGs. Before the grips are installed on your revolver, use a .088" - .090" drill bit to drill through only one grip panel in the two open holes opposing the two locator pins.
When it comes time to take the grips off all you have to do is take out all three threaded cross screws, then put a small punch though the two holes located over the locator pins and alternately tap the pins with the small punch.
The grip opposite grip panel will come off with no prying required. Then tap the other grip pannel off from inside the frame. This proceedure will allow you years of service without damaging your grips during removal. DLS inc can assist you with drilling these convenience holes if need be.
DLS can also assist you with contouring and or checkering your PRGs as required.
For shooters who occasionally use a lanyard but do not want to repeatly open the grips to loop the lanyard around the laynard anchor, simply attach a short loop of cord or small ring on the lanyard anchor the first time you install the PRGs. Then you can clip or tie on the main lanyard as needed.
DLS PRGs perform best when the shooter's fingers fit snugly in the front strap recess of the grip.
To give DLS a reference to your hand size simply place your strong hand down flat on the piece of blank paper. Move your thumb out of the way, and hold your four fingers closely together. Draw a line on the paper alongside your index finger and your little finger, between your knuckles and primary mid finger joints. Measure the distance between the lines with a digital calipers. Average sized hands will fit the PRGs as is. There is extra material designed in the PRG to allow for enlarging the front strap recess to custom fit extra large hands. For those most concerned about CCW, the overall size of the grips can be radiused down as well.
For shooters who want the performance features of the DLS PRG, but want the most compact size possible, the PRG can be custom contoured for your hand size and CCW requirements. A light texturing can also be added to the surface. Skilled DIY craftsman can accomplish these goals, or DLS can assist with your custom grip project. Be sure to follow these hand width measurement procedures and provide the measurement to DLS. Place your hand palm down flat on a piece of blank paper. Move your thumb out of the way. Hold your 4 fingers tightly together. Draw a line on the paper alongside your index finger and your little finger, between the knuckle and the primary finger joint. Use a digital caliper to measure the distance between the lines and provide DLS with that measurement.

Dave has been so busy churning out new products for revolvers that we had to put another update together for you. It's obvious that Dave Lauck appreciates the revolver's continuing viability as a serious use sidearm and his innovative products make them better...
...All of the work was exceptionally well done and worth every penny I spent. I will very happily send my future revolver business to Mr. Lauck. It's all good, but it's those grips that have made the biggest difference in both handling and appearance...
...Revolvers deserve rugged, easy to see, properly-regulated sights just as much as autos do, and can probably take even better advantage of them than the bottom-feeders. If only we could get the people who built these guns to understand that... Fortunately for us, one guy who does understand that is acclaimed gunsmith Dave Lauck....
Gear Review: D&L Sports K, L, N and X Frame Smith & Wesson Revolver Sights
by Jon Wayne Taylor -December 22, 20220
Dave Lauck at D&L Sports makes the best combat revolver sight set I've ever seen. I don't mean, "for the money", or "on the market today", or "in their category". I mean these are the best sights ever, at any price, on any wheel gun. If you're taking your safe queen to the range, the D&L Sports sights are a "nice-to-have" feature. If your life may depend on your revolver, they're much more a "have-to-have" item...
Dave,
I have been searching so long for the perfect revolver grip....I received your PRG revolver grip and it fits like a glove!
Thank you,
Revolver Shooter

Dear Dave,
Best grips and sights ever. I extend my sincere appreciation for the PGR grips and sights you provided. They have significantly enhanced the aesthetics and performance of my S&W 686, elevating its overall appeal. Upon gripping the revolver for the first time, the discernible difference was truly remarkable. The ergonomic design not only enhances the visual appeal but also contributes to an unparalleled shooting experience. The craftsmanship is evident, and it has unquestionably become the epitome of tactile satisfaction. Even my wife, upon holding the firearm, expressed her delight. The original rubber grips failed to resonate with her, but the CCW contour and light stippling of your enhancements seamlessly align with her hand, garnering her approval and admiration. I cannot express enough gratitude for the positive transformation your products have brought to my firearm. Rest assured, I will unquestionably return for your exceptional services in the future. Thank you once again. Best regards,

Hello D&L,
I am interested in your PRG grips for my S&W 69 Combat Magnum (L frame round butt). I have tried the factory rubber grips, service panels, and a conversion grip with covered back strap and I cannot stop the gun from cutting the web of my hand in recoil. I have attached a picture to illustrate this with the current grips...... I would love to continue using it with 44 magnum loads and not switch to specials but I need to address the hand cutting issue. I believe the beaver tail profile of your PRG grip will address this by holding the gun in the correct place in my hand.......
Thank you.
Revolver Shooter
Dave,
I am already a PRG grip convert on my model 69....before using your grip design I could only shoot a few magnum rounds before my hand was sore.....now that I have your PRG grips installed my revolver is far more comfortable to shoot, even during a full range session of magnum loads. Thank you
Revolver Shooter
Dave,
These PRG grips are "Phenomenal", a "Genius" design. They are improving my shooting performance and recoil control. Thank you!
Revolver Shooter
Hi Dave,
Thank you for the PRG grips..... The grips fit like a glove - both firearm and me! .......I wanted to compliment the lanyard configuration as well. You seemed to have solved a problem not many people know exist with several clever solutions. Conversely, I have Bowen Arms lanyard ring setup on a hunting revolver. While very well made my concern with it is always the noise the ring produces while moving within the eyelet of sorts. The difference between solid concept and actual field use.......Lastly, I want you to know I find your revolver work depicted online very impressive....... You have a talent for making the already good - very/very good!
Thanks again!
Revolver Shooter
Mr. Dave Lauck,
Thank you for the work!..... I absolutely love my D&L custom revolver!.... The PRG grip is something..... never had a grip like this...... I can definitely tell, it's different when you draw. I stick my arm straight out and the sights are right there! No need for dipping the wrist or looking for the sights...... it's draw, arm straight, line up the sights, and ready to pull..... It's very intuitive.....100% helps with quick target acquisition.....I love the D&L sights as well!...... world's apart from the stock sights, vast improvement..... I'm very satisfied..... I sincerely thank you for working on my revolver.
Revolver Shooter
Dear D&L Sports,
I received my D&L PRG revolver grips in just two business days - thank you so much. It's extremely well made and installed very easily.... not quite as "pretty" as the Hogue Big Butt grip that it replaced, but it functions so much better. There is now only one way to grip my S&W revolver - your grip just cannot be grasped any other way. With the web of your hand pressed up under the PRG beaver tail, the S&W simply stays put in your hand. It also points exactly where your hand points....Simply wonderful,
Very happy Customer
Dave,
Thank you for the fast shipping....the D&L sights are dead on....and the PRG grips are perfectly designed for control....Thank you
Revolver Shooter
Dave,
With your contoured PRG revolver grips and enhanced cylinder release I do not have to shift my grip at all to perform a speed reload. Your revolver accessories are well thought out, and frankly not many other people are offering quality revolver products. I am pleased with your designs and products. Thank you.

These D&L Sports revolver grips are cooler than Deckard's Bladerunner revolver. They point way better and actually work on live fire revolvers.
