Dave:
The pistol shoots unbelievably well. Now, I just have to do my part. Thanks for the phenomenal customer service. You have a devoted customer. Now, I just have to save up enough for one of your ARs.
Take care,
1911 Shooter

Good afternoon Dave!
I just received my Professional Model today, and I will have to say, that without any doubt, this is the finest 1911 that I have ever seen or owned. As I mentioned to you earlier, I own many fine 1911s from several excellent companies, but I can see that you are a fine craftsman indeed. There are many areas of your Professional Model that are much better designed than any of my other 1911s, and I can see your tremendous attention to detail in each square inch of this gun. I will be going to the range this weekend, and I will let you know how it shoots. Also, everyone at my local gun shop really loved your awesome posters!
Best regards,
1911 Shooter

Sir,
I recently acquired a Springfield 1911 which you had added the Street Pak Deluxe along with the accuracy package. This pistol is amazing!! I have semi-custom pistols Les Baer, Kimber and the Springfield out shoots both of them. The only magazine which fed everything was one of yours. The pistol only came with 1 mag. My Chip McCormik Shooting Stars didn't work so well. I would like to buy some more of your magazines.
Thanks for your time and for a terrific 1911,
1911 Shooter.

Hi Dave,
Just a quick note to let you know that my partner, Don, and I have had a good but humbling time at the ITRC. Don is on the SRT team in Bozeman and probably shoots more than any other member of the team. On the way home he told me that he has always competed competitively at SWAT competitions. After the ITRC he said he realized that he has a lot more to learn. I too feel the same way and we are already thinking and plannning on next years event. My AR performed flawlessly as expected. Thanks for such a great product. The information I obtained from your books was invaluable.
Thanks again for everything!!

Good morning sir,
I have acquired one of your CQBs built in 2006, (an absolutely beautiful piece of work sir).
Take care and God bless.

Dave:
Your .338 lapua magnum rifle is really shooting well. This is a picture of three shots fired from 403 yards (300 gr SMK ammo ) Each target square is one inch so that's .25 MOA accuracy!

Mountain Lion Incident
Jack Harvey 9/25/2010
Saturday morning early I decided to hike up to the back parts of our mountainous Colorado ranch to get some exercise as well as be sure we were not hosting any poachers as it was one of the first weekends of deer season. Having found poachers before I decided to carry a pistol as I feel if you are confronting an armed individual it is advisable to be armed yourself. Usually these confrontations end cordially with the person being directed off the ranch and no real problems, but you can never tell. I took the government 1911 out of my bedside table and press checked it and checked the magazine to be sure it was topped off with ball ammunition. Also slid an extra loaded magazine into my pocket. The cocked and locked gun went into my Yaqui slide holster and the two chocolate labradors and the one bluetick and I set off on our hike. As I passed the barn as has often been my proactive, i did a couple of quick tactical draws of the weapon to be sure all was right. I do this often, and honestly have in the back of my mind felt a bit silly as I knew I would never have to use my gun in this manner. In fact this time with the first draw the holster was not anchored well (paddle style Yaqui) and I had to adjust it so that I could draw smoothly. Satisfied with my "stupid" little drill we started climbing into the mountains. A half hour later following a game trail I noted the three dogs were 50 or so yards out front as they usually run ahead. I was really enjoying the cool weather and start of fall colors when I heard one of the labs bark several times and the yelp. I thought they might have run into a bear out eating plums for the upcoming winter. Our black bears are small and usually just run off at any confrontation. So I started yelling and running up the trail hoping to run the bear off before a dog got accidentally hurt. At this time I heard a low pitched aggressive growl and as I topped a rise in the trail found something else. At about 20-30 yards up the trail the three dogs were running for their lives with a very large mountain lion in aggressive pursuit, headed straight for me. I instantly registered the seriousness of this "Oh Shit" situation, but do not remember consciously deciding to use my weapon. In fact the next thing I remember is the gun going off with the lion at about 5 yards, still in full charge and intent on doing us some harm. The cat jumped into the air and made a 90 degree turn before hitting the ground and bounding up the mountain. I fired two more shots at the retreating cat, but think I missed with these last two rounds. A blood trail was present so I called the Division of Wildlife officer, Aimee Ryel, who made it up in a bit over an hour. After looking the scene over she also determined this was self defense and not having a lion license was not an issue. She led the tracking with her buckshot loaded Remington 870, and after following a very good blood trail for about 1/2 mile. The cat entered an area of the ranch with lots of snowberries which this time of year have dense autumnal colored leaves, and we then lost the trail. Prior to this we had lots of blood on the ground but were unable to find the cat. On the hike back we found in an area, close to where my encounter occurred, a freshly killed coyote with lion tooth puncture marks on the skull. As I think about this incident I am struck by the unusual behavior of this particular cat. Having hunted lions before, I find it unusual that the lion was so focused on an attack, rather than running off from a pack of dogs. Killing the coyote is also unusual in my experience. The things I do know is thank God I had my pistol and had been previously tactically trained to use it. I am lucky I had it in a Yaqui slide type holster that allowed easy deployment of the weapon as the entire incident was but a couple of seconds from seeing the lion to discharging the weapon. Lastly I will not think my "stupid" little routines of carrying the gun, checking its condition and practicing a couple of tactical presentations of the pistol are in fact stupid. I shudder to think of the results if I had not done all these preparations before this little hike in the woods. Thanks to Dave Lauck for a dependable Lauck .45 1911, and Dave and JL Weber for the tactical training I received years ago.

When ten years ago I made a trip to the US in order to attend a precision rifle course, I chose the Counter Sniper Course by SATA instructor Dave Lauck. Even though I was a French Army trooper, he accepted me and taught me a lot of things within 3 days. Highly professional, skilled, he got me to obtain the most out of me and my rifle. Aiming at security on the range, proper weapon handling and technics this was a great time. I am now a qualified firearm instructor in my unit and I always teach with in mind what I learned ten years ago. Dave, I want to thank you for what you did, and what you keep on doing.

Dave:
This is the shot I told you about. A 3 shot, 10 inch group at 1649 yards with your 338 Lapua Magnum rifle. I used 300 gr SMK bullets custom loaded.
Thanks again,
