D&L Dual Optic Mount

AR-15 shooters often find themselves choosing between mounting a fast action optic for close range shooting and mounting a conventional rifle scope for longer range accuracy shooting. When the shooter is faced with close and fast shooting and has a conventional rifle scope in place he is slower than he should be. When he is required to make longer range shots with more precision, he is less accurate than he should be if he only has a red dot sight mounted on his carbine.

The D&L solution; the dual optic mount. This mount allows the shooter to mount a conventional rifle scope in a low position for a solid cheek weld and best trajectory performance. It also allows a red dot optic to be mounted over the top of the rifle scope for heads up fast action shooting. Mounting the red dot at 12 o'clock allows the shooter to factor in common bullet impact offset information related to the distance between the sight and the bore. This is quicker than having to factor in cant in addition to boreline/sight offset.

The position of the red dot sight is very important, especially when using any of the mini sights. If the mini dot sights are mounted forward, it is very easy to loose the dot in the field of view, even with a tiny mismounting of the firearm to the shoulder. This can drastically delay quick shot delivery. To solve this the red dot sight needs to be mounted close to the eye. This allows the practiced shooter to quickly find the dot every time the firearm is mounted to the shoulder.

The top rail on the D&L dual optic mount is removable to allow the mount to be used as a single optic scope mount too. The top rail is a picatinny style so it accepts all common optics. Or it can be used to mount a white light, laser, or designator right over the rifle scope.

The top rail can also be used without any accessory in place simply as a protection rail to protect the rifle scope from impacts.

The D&L mount attached to the firearm via two heavy duty crossbolts, clamps and finger nuts. The top rail is attached via 4 stout countersunk allen screws. The mount has two integral battery compartments built into the mount. The D&L dual optic mount features 12 screws in the wide ring tops for heavy duty protection, and the entire mount is reversable to achieve the best eye relief.
