Dave Lauck:
In your book, The Tactical 1911, and in articles, you express views about the weapon and its employment that I know to be true. Beginning with a U.S. Army Remington Rand over forty years ago, I have carried, shot and taught with 1911's.

Review: The Tactical Marksman
by Dave M. Lauck
Well I had a lot to say about Dave's book "The Tactical 1911". This book is in the same no bull style and should be of even more interest to those of us that want to put bullets out there with any precision!
Again Dave starts his book with chapter number one being on safety. As with his other books this is a FULL chapter not just one or two paragraphs. I KNOW we have all seen and had this information pounded into our heads since we first picked up a weapon but it NEVER HURTS TO REVIEW SAFETY!!!!
Chapter two is on the tactical marksman concept and why we even need this type of position.
Chapter three is on rifle selection with the correct idea of "the right tool for the right job". Dave is a firm believer in the two (2) rifle concept IF your area of responsibility lends itself to this idea. In a nutshell it uses a "perimeter rifle", an AR type weapon, out to approximately 200 yards then going with the precision bolt rifle out to the maximum distance for your area of responsibility. Within this chapter is a discussion of various different rifle AR's, HK, Ruu-Ruug ah you know which one I'm talking about, M14, AUT, etc. to include some information on .50 caliber. This is a very complete chapter and continues on with components such as stocks, trigger groups, barrels, caliber selection and on and on, hey I'm talking COMPLETE!
From here the book goes to Optics and Support Equipment, Ballistics and Ammunition, Zeroing, Rifle Marksmanship, Close-Action Rifle, Practical Rifle Training, Rifle Maintenance, with Appendices on Sample Field Data Book, Cold Shot Target and a list of Suppliers and Training Schools.
This is close to 200 pages of some of the most useful no BS information I've read. Want/need good practical information READ THIS BOOK!

Review: Advanced Tactical Marksman
by Dave M. Lauck
This book is sold as a follow-on tome to the author's first rifle oriented book, The Tactical Marksman. In addition to this book, Mr. Lauck is well known in tactical shooting circles as the founder of the International Tactical Rifleman's Championship, the president and founder of D&L Sports™ and the Small Arms Training Academy (SATA) and as one of the top gunsmiths in the U.S. Dave was also a top notch shooting competitor and law enforcement officer. Suffice to say that he is a seasoned shooter and has the credentials to write about advanced tactical shooting. This book has ten chapters on subjects ranging from firearms safety, rifle selection, zeroing, and maintenance procedures. It also has a small appendix with training targets and a glossary section.
The book is well written and illustrated. The illustrations are of very good quality and do an excellent job of illustrating the author's concepts and ideas throughout the book. There is a wealth of information scattered throughout the ten chapters.

by Dave Lauck
If you love the 1911 like I do then Dave Lauck's book: Tactical 1911: The Street Cop's and SWAT Operator's Guide to Employment and Maintenance is the book you've been waiting for! Man I LOVED THIS BOOK! I have been waiting for a book to come along that gives a no-holds-barred, white-knuckled defense of the 1911 (.45ACP) up against any pistol (and revolver) on the market. The author does not bash other handgun designs for being different from the 1911, he simply points out the strengths of the 1911 by comparison. Dave covers everything you need to know: safety, customization dos and don'ts, ammo selection, CCW considerations, tactics, and maintenance. I highly recommend this book. I have really enjoyed reading and digesting mine several times!

Review: Tactical 1911
The Street Cop's and SWAT Operator's Guide to Employment and Maintenance
( taken from www.SniperCountry.com )
by Dave Lauck
Dave's book is one of the few books, on shooting, I've ever read that, after getting past the preface and forward actually had as Chapter 1 "SAFETY"!! and I'm not talking about a two or three sentence thing about always pointing the weapon in a safe direction but a true chapter on safe handgun handling, and it wasn't boring no matter I'd heard these things a zillion times.
Chapter 2 is on "Selecting Your Pistol" and covers not only why the 1911, but revolvers, caliber choice, action type, and specific model options.
Chapter 3 is one of the more extensive chapters covering the many different types of modifications available for RELIABILITY, we ain't talkin "race guns" here, but what you can, would, should do to your out of the box Colt 1911.
As to Chapters 4 & 5 he talks about "Holster Selection" and "Ammunition Selection" - what works, what doesn't and most importantly WHY it does or doesn't work.
Chapters 6 & 7 are on "Basic Handgun Shooting" and "Advanced Handgun Skills", all presented in a logical well thought out practical format.
Chapter 9, last and definitely not least is on "MAINTENANCE"!! Something we ALL need to take just a bit more seriously especially when your life is being bet on this weapon!
Again all this information is presented in such a way that even if you've been to a dozen different schools and heard these things a dozen different times you feel it is being given in a new fresh manner. Nothing radical here just good sound handgun advice and practices.
I truly enjoyed this book for it's readability, information and applicability. If you are thinking of buying any handgun in the future take the time to read this book!

Review: Advanced Tactical Marksman
More High-Performance Techniques for Police, Military, and Practical Shooters
( taken from www.copbiz.com )
by Dave Lauck
When Dave Lauck wrote The Tactical Marksman in 1996, serious shooters around the world took notice of its solid how-to information and insightful examination of the state of marksmanship. It quickly became a sought-after training manual for police, military, and civilian marksmen alike. Now Lauck, one of the most respected names in high-performance shooting and gunsmithing, reevaluates, refines, and updates that information in this book. Advanced Tactical Marksman explores and explains realistic shooting techniques and equipment without any desk-bound gun writer's exaggerations. Lauck proves that long-distance shooters do not need to use over-complicated mil-dot formulas and minute-of-angle calculations to achieve superior accuracy. He also demonstrates the advantages of his custom reticle design and describes the advancements of the MR-30PG shooting system. Simply put, dedicated shooters who want to perform better and faster would do well to adopt Lauck's advanced marksmanship techniques.
