Dear
Sir or Madam, |
|
As
Americans, we are a people who have become increasingly aware of our
need to take security precautions. Many companies, especially those
engaged in the production and transportation of energy, are taking
extra steps to insure the safety of their personnel and assets. In
the Rocky Mountain Region, we are blessed with both abundant natural
resources and a talented work force to produce, transport, and protect
these resources. |
|
The
state of Wyoming is also home to the Small Arms Training Academy and
the International Tactical Rifleman's Championships. Every August,
law enforcement, military, and civilian shooters from the world over,
descend on the Small Arms Training Academy, located 30 miles north
of Gillette, to participate in a test of skills, tactics, and equipment
that is so demanding it has become known as "The Proving Ground".
Individuals employed by many organizations, including the FBI, state
law enforcement agencies, and branches of the US military, have participated
in the match over the years. The main objective of the competition
is to prepare first responders and their equipment, for the extreme
situations that they may encounter in the line of duty. Every year
valuable new lessons are learned and shared among the teams who participate.
Every year SATA introduces new challenges to test the skill of the
participants. This year a helicopter event was added. |
|
In addition to the knowledge and experience gained under match pressure,
competitors who place well are also rewarded with trophies and prizes.
As you can imagine, expenses add up very quickly in this kind of undertaking. |
|
Over
the years, the ITRC has enjoyed the loyal sponsorship of companies
within the shooting and law enforcement industry. In order to continue
improving the match year after year, the decision was recently made
to seek corporate sponsorship, for the first time, outside of the
law enforcement and firearms community. We hope that your corporation
will agree that the ITRC "Proving Ground" is a training
and competition event whose participants are worthy of your sponsorship.
Please visit our website, http://www.dlsports.com, or call us at (928)
636-1726 for more information about the Small Arms Training Academy
and the ITRC. You may be assured that your financial support for this
event, no matter how great or small, will be used to assist the training
experience for the individuals that our communities may call upon
to keep our industries secure from interruption. |
|
Please
take time to read some of the testimonials from emergency personnel
at the end of this letter. It will be obvious that SATA training benefits
the defenders of our country. |
|
Contributors
who donate $10,000 or more will receive a plaque of appreciation. |
|
Thank
you for your consideration. |

Sincerely, |

About
SATA and D&L Sports™
|
|
Dave
Lauck established the Small Arms Training Academy due to a very real
need for professional firearms instruction for law-abiding individuals,
military, and tactical officers. The SATA is located 30 miles north
of Gillette, Wyoming, in the Powder River Basin. The range site was
chosen for the suitability of the terrain, and its private, undisturbed
location. The range features an 1800 yard rifle range, well suited
to long range rifle/countersniper training, and numerous smaller ranges
and combat courses, designed for handgun, shotgun, carbine, and special
weapons use. The shoot house, the size of a football field, is capable
of live fire, as well as force on force training, under all lighting
conditions. Multiple vehicles and three armored school buses are integrated
into the shoot house for specialty vehicle training. Two towers and
multiple firing positions surround the shoot house for observation
and sniper initiated entry training. |
|
Dave
Lauck is a Police and NRA certified Firearms instructor, as well as
a contact weapon instructor. He is a post-certified practitioner/lecturer
in SWAT and in counter sniper tactics. As founder of the SATA he has
provided services for members of state, local, and federal police,
USMC, Army, National Guard, Rangers, Seals and qualified civilians.
Lauck is also founder of the OMC (One Mile Club) where shooters test
their long-range shooting skills. In 2002 Lauck received a Golden
Eagle Award from the US military for professional firearms training.
In 2003 he was selected as chief sniper instructor for the 2004 World
SWAT Conference. |
|
Mr.
Lauck is also a veteran Law Enforcement Officer with over 25 years
of experience. He has served as SWAT Countersniper, Team Leader, Lead
Patrol Officer, Special Investigator, expert witness and SWAT Weapon
and Duty Weapon Armorer. Dave Lauck has learned the necessity of a
reliable, powerful and accurate firearm and the professional training
to go with it. |

Dave,
When the Fire Fight started at the battle of the boneyard (Afghanistan),
I had my teammate from 3 years ago at the D&L Match and Training
course. He took a lot of shit about being a Cav in a Special forces
unit, but when the shooting started some ran for cover and some came
to the sound of Gun Fire, He was there when I needed him. The fire
he and the others put into the building was a thing of beauty. Everything
was on target, and on time. The training we received at D&L was
a life saver. Afghanistan is a lot like Wyoming (less the trees and
grass). Much of what we did that night was CQB and multiple target
engagement with both weapons. I do not know how you could of written
a training plan, that could have better prepared us for that battle,
THANKS (you will forever be on my Christmas list)! That night there
were 3 of the soldiers in the fight that you trained at your course.
We all agree that your training would save so many lives over here,
if only we could get more soldiers out to D&L. I will be moving
to take over as the Chief looking forward to D&L next year, |

Thanks
for excellent instruction at the precision marksman course. Having
been a firearms instructor for 15 years, and having been taught by
some of the best our country has to offer, I can state Dave Lauck
is one of the finest I have met. We left with more practical information
than we have been able to get at any other class we have attended.

We
are moving a lot of troops to the battlefield in the next two weeks.
Sixteen of the military shooters you trained are now, or will be soon,
in harm's way. To the man, they all wanted me to tell you thanks!
It was the best training they have received, and may make the difference
when things become a two way range. |
